Tiger poster ^^

April 27, 2008

Haha, properly since we spent lots of time and effort in making the tiger posters, most of the class members posted these posters as entries this week . ^o^ I shouldn’t be the odd people here :) )

This is the process of how I made my poster.

At first I thought about the idea of the contrast between the living tigers and the dead tigers, I searched for a lot of images of tigers and tiger bones (!) and used Photoshop to cut the tigers out of the background. I want people to see the diffirence between the living ones and the dead ones, and after that, feeling scared and worried for the tiger lives. that was my first idea. However, when I’m trying to work with that idea, it didn’t go well. You can see my first draft:

I wasn’t satisfied with the result at all because they looked so bad T.T I mean, I could not express my idea clearly in this poster , and I was really disappointed. Then I thought about other ideas. I looked at many WWF posters and I found out that them (the WWF posters) always look so simple and easy to remember, but really meaningful and impressive too. So I suddenly thought “Why don’t make a poster that’s only contains words and no tiger images?” . Luckily I got a really impressive image of tiger skin, so I use this as the background of my poster. And this time, the second time, personally speaking, the result look much better ^^

There’s problem with this poster, it looked too simple, yes simplicity is important in these types of poster but this one was too simple, and beside the nice background, there’s nothing impressive at all. So now I put some blood in to it, and changed a little bit the typo. I wanted to keep using Arial font because it’s easy to read and is a formal font, people may find it’s friendly looking (!) :”D

And here it’s my final result :

s3183636_tigerfinishOh wait why I still think that the extinct and 95% word are a bit unnescessary T..T

How a bout this as a final piece?

3D street art

April 21, 2008

Hey, have you ever heard about something called 3D street painting? Now 3D street painting is considered as one of the new contemporary art already :D Of course street painting means that drawing on the street ground/ or most likely the pavement, but it’s not an easy job at all, because the artist has to make the painting become 3D. Famous 3D street painters/ artists like Julian Breever even have made artworks look so much like real objects that many people have mistaken their art with real things. What really interesting is, you can only see the paintings as 3D object from some particular angles, so when you don’t look at them from specific positions, you may not be able to recognize what is that, or you can only think that it’s only a 2D strange painting. That’s why the best way for people to enjoy this type of painting is looking at the results through photographs.

3D street painters have to study several techniques before they can start drawing, there’re some rules in drawing on the street. Example, It’s not like that you simply draw a chicken on the street and it become 3D right away. No, no and no. First the artists come up with the idea of what they want to draw, then they sketch the picture on a paper, and then they have to re-draw the picture in specific ratio for 3D street painting. Sometimes professional artist don’t need to re-draw the picture because they can math the ratio in their head. However, it’s strongly recommend when you are a newcomer or the 3D street painting you are drawing is huge.

Examples of what is street painting art:

Recently, my friend Nhat Anh who is studying Design HED and also in our dim2 class ( diffirent group ) had an idea to made this kind of painting as a background for his final project. That idea sounds really cool and interesting to me, so I said yes right away when he asked me to give him a hand. Thus, me, Nhat Anh and our other 3 friends have spent our time during and over the weekend to finish this “RMIT pool”.

Here’s the process of making our “pool”:

1. Thinking about what the painting will be. Sketch out the image and put it in right ratio (this process is done on illustrator).

2. Find a suitable place, buy the suitable crayons and begin to “draw” on the ground ( cost a lot of time T.T), but the process is pretty much fun! ^^

3. Finish !!! Now you can see our final result for real at the new canteen in our school from Monday to Wednesday (21-24/4-08) , and of course take a picture with it , join the project to raise the charity fund too if you care ;) ) Hope you will enjoy it. Have a nice day ^^

First, I took these photos in different angels of my jean shorts and turned them to a visual alphabet.

Then, when looking at the final work, I found out that there’s a big logo of levi’s jean in the middle of the image. So, I thought about making an advert poster for levi’s with this alphabet. Interestingly, the logo of levi’s presented “M” letter, which sounds like “aim”. Thus, I call my poster ” Our Levi’s , your aim” :”D

And here’s my final poster ^^

[Photo] Garden

April 15, 2008

This is a tree in my mum’s small garden. I don’t even know what its name :”P . But one morning after waking up I took a look at the garden and saw this tree, there were some drops of water running along the leaves, I was just like “omg, so beautiful” and immediately grasped the nearest camera to take these photos. I used a 4. compact camera so the photos maybe looked not that great, but I really love the moment that I saw something nice and captured it with a camera in hand. So sweet, comfortable and happy.

My new illustration

April 13, 2008

I play around with my sketch and photoshop ^^

I started with sketching a girl in paper, then scan it in to my PC, paint it in Photoshop, and decorate –> finish

This is the original image

s3183636_scangirlAfter I paint it in Photoshop :

And finish with some decoration ^^ :

Haha , what do you think?

PS : I tried to make my style similar with Enakei, my favourite illustrator. She’s Korean so that’s why you might see this illustration look like Korean drawing :P

I have an idea of drawing faces for objects, making them become lively and cute looking.

I have several korean designs using this technique, actually it’s very simple, using Photoshop brush to draw in the picture and decorate it ^^

And my result :
