balance

Balance or unbalance doesn’t mean good or bad.

Just that everything in this world needs balance to feel stable and secure. Ortherwise unbalance will put them in dangerous situations.
I admit I am not a balance person thus I put myself in trouble sometimes.

Oppositely, this tree is balance, perfectly. However, it’s not safe.
How about tomorrow someone come and feel it down?
Life is full of unexpected and theory should not be the requirement.

Just a random thought for a day.

Photo taken in front of Rmit, not today.

[photo] shoes in the air

A trip of the shoes

These photos have been made based on the effect of shutter speed when taking photo in fast action.
Throwing a pair of shoes into the air and then capturing them. My friend Long is teh one who take these photos.
These idea and inspiration come from a photo of a pair of shoes flying in front of an old room’s window. I saw the photo a long time a go on some website or forum and didn’t remember the address.
The shots haven’t been good yet ( Here I mean the position of the shoes thrown into the air) However after many try this is the final results.

Autumn sketch

Filed under: My writting, my illustration — Tags: , , — Linh Linh @ 5:55 pm

Yeah I decided that this week will be all about my sketchs so now I’m posting another entry with a sketch.

I really miss my hometown now >”<

I’m from Ha Noi, the capital of Viet Nam, in the North, and it’s like 2000 km far from HCM city. As the result, the weathers here and there are totally diffirent. In HCM city , you only have two types of weather, dry or wet, rain or not rain, while in Ha Noi, four seasons. Well it’s not that I don’t like HCM’s weather, actually I love it here, but because I’m in the mood of homesick, so just want to talk a little bit about that.

It’s gonna be autumn in Ha noi soon, usually from August I guess. And in autumn, the weather is really nice, it’s dry, and cool, and the scenes are really really beautiful, you can see yellow leaves falling all your way, and winds blowing your hair while you are walking. I love autumn the most and then winter among all seasons. However, what’s not good in autumn is that, with all the beautiful scenes, if you’re kind of sensitive people, you may feel somehow lonely and sad without any reason…

Oh maybe it’s too much just stop driving this entry too corny XD, what I wanted to say is that, with a mood of missing autumn, I have finished this sketch.

I draw this based on a movie poster I have seen somewhere (don’t really remember ). The content of the movie has nothing to do with the meaning in this sketch. Just I by chance saw the poster, together with my own mood, I made this. And I name this “Autumn wind”.

Well a while ago, I remember seeing somewhere people using metaphor to express what they want to show. For example, to represent the sky, instead of drawing clouds and sun , or moon and stars, a painter can simply draw only a bird in a big blank white paper (Lee Oi Soo picture from my entry post before) . I want to try that too. In this example, I didn’t draw wind, but I draw a girl whose hair flying and looking at a leaf falling from above. Wind is actually what did make her hair flies and the leaf falls. Thus, this sketch has been called “Autumn wind”.

me at the basketcourt photos ^^

recent sketchs

Pencil and paper are things that can help me hiding away from stress and recharging my energy.
When I was in UK two year ago, after looking at my sketch, my teacher told me that I should take illustration course, and I agreed, firstly because I didn’t know what the other subjects I can choose were. After that, thing is, the more I learn, the more I love illustration. Even though I’m not a great drawer, drawing brings me great pleasure, especially drawing people in comic style. I can sit still doing nothing but just sketching down every scene appeared in my mind. Back then, my dream was to become a fashion illustrator and comic artist.

Time passed and many things have changed, now I’m here in RMIT doing a degree in multimedia design. Is this the right choice for me I don’t know, but at least at the moment, I’m satisfied with this situation. And who know several years from now on, what would happend.

Here are some of my recent sketchs, I just used pencil drawing in paper and then scanned it straight into my PC. No photoshop or color in. I like them natural like this. Maybe, will paint them with Photoshop, later.

My flashs

I love illustration, Flash and 2D animation. Here are the two most recent flashes that I’ve done during last semester.

link
This is my first flash portfolio, it cost me like 3-4 days to finish everything, and I’m quite satisfied with the outcome ^^ I love light pink, piano and flowers and that’s how the layout has been designed.

link
Does it look like a flash game? XD Actually, this is a baking cake tutorial. After a week continuously working with pencil, paper, tablet and the PC I’ve finished this. Even though there are still some mistakes -such as sometimes it’s too fast and some spelling mistakes (- -! ) - I still love the flash and especially its main character, a cute girl cooking.

10 Golden Rules of Lomography and the contest

10 Golden Rules of Lomography:

1) Take your camera everywhere you go.

2) Use it anytime – day and night.

3)This is not an interference in your life, but a part of it.

4) Try the shot from the hip.

5) Approach the objects of your desire as close as possible.

6) Don’t think.

7) Be fast.

8) You don’t have to know beforehand what you’ve captured.

9) Afterwards either.

10) Don’t worry about any rules.

Today I received an advert email from a person called Will Griggs introducing about Threadless Loves Lomography and Hot Chip T-Shirts Contests. I think it’s useful so I just post it here ^^ Check the links out! personally I think the Tshirt website (www.threadless.com) pretty interesting.

If I ask you to draw me a picture of the sky, what will you do?

If I ask you to draw me a picture of the sky, what will you do?

Guess that most of the people (including me) will start with some clouds looking like cotton candies or twingling stars

But this man did a different thing

Lee Oi-Soo_draw a bird to illustrate the sky

Say in the pictures: “Draw a bird, then the rest of the picture will be the sky” ( I’m not sure is it exact because my Korean is bad, but the meaning is right anyway ^^() )

This reminds me of a phrase: “Think outside the box”.  Really, Lee did think and do unusual thing to illustrate his idea of  the sky.

Great work!

Some information about the artist which I found on the net:
